Privacy policy
This notice explains how Almareem Technologies Company Ltd, registered in Tanzania, handles personal information when you use PortfolioLens. We are responsible for deciding why and how the service processes your information.
1. Information we collect
We collect your name, email address, account credentials, verification and sign-in records, device passkey public keys and credential identifiers, and the financial information you choose to enter: budgets, cash needs, goals, risk preferences, investment values, proposed positions, saved plans and research notes. Authentication records can include IP addresses, user-agent information and timestamps. Infrastructure providers process technical request and error logs. Do not put bank passwords, payment-card details, identity documents or other people’s private information in research notes.
2. Why we use information
We use account and planning information to provide the service you request, save and calculate your plans, authenticate you, send security codes, respond to requests and prevent abuse. We process information where necessary to provide our service, meet legal duties and protect the legitimate security interests of our users and business, subject to applicable law. Where consent is required for a new purpose, we will request it separately. Accepting our terms is not blanket consent for unrelated processing.
3. Biometrics and passkeys
Your fingerprint, facial image and device PIN stay with your device or its passkey provider. PortfolioLens receives a public key, credential information and a cryptographic response indicating successful device verification. Your device may permit its PIN or screen lock instead of a biometric. You can manage registered passkeys in Settings. Your email inbox and device security remain important to account security.
4. Cookies and local storage
Essential cookies maintain sign-in, verification and passkey challenges. Local storage remembers your light/dark theme. The live service saves financial records on the server, not as a browser-only demo. We do not currently use advertising trackers or sell personal information. Clearing essential cookies signs you out; clearing local storage resets preferences. If optional analytics or advertising is introduced, this notice and any legally required consent controls will be updated first.
5. Service providers and disclosure
Vercel hosts the application, Neon provides the database, and our configured email service delivers verification and recovery messages. Mansa provides market data; the market connection sends its service credential and exchange request, not your portfolio or email address. We do not currently send your financial records to an AI model. Providers may process technical information needed to operate their services. Access is limited to authorized personnel and providers when needed for operation, security, support or legal duties. There is no general staff portfolio-browsing feature. We may disclose information where law requires it or to establish or defend legal rights.
6. International processing
Our hosting, database and email providers may process information outside Tanzania. Applicable cross-border transfer requirements, provider agreements and required authorizations must be maintained. Contact us for information about the arrangements applicable to your account. We do not promise that all processing takes place in Tanzania.
7. Retention and deletion
Your account and saved planning records remain while you maintain the account, unless you delete them or a specific legal requirement applies. Settings lets you delete your financial profile, plans and watchlist; that action keeps the sign-in account. To request account closure and deletion of remaining personal information, contact us using your registered email. We verify requests before acting. Session records expire according to the configured session lifetime; expiry prevents their use but does not itself guarantee immediate physical deletion. Provider backups and technical logs can persist for their retention periods. Information needed for security investigations or legal obligations may be retained separately with restricted access. We do not promise immediate erasure from every backup.
8. Your rights and choices
Subject to the Personal Data Protection Act and applicable exceptions, you may request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to processing, and information about how it is used. You can update your financial profile and delete financial records in the application. Where processing depends on consent, you can withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need information to verify your identity. Contact us to exercise rights or raise a concern. You may also complain to Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Commission at pdpc.go.tz.
9. Security and incidents
We use HTTPS, password hashing, email verification, additional sign-in verification or passkeys, server-side authorization and request controls. No system can guarantee absolute security. If an incident affects personal information, we will investigate, take protective action and notify affected people and authorities where applicable law requires. Never send us passwords, passkey secrets or one-time codes in a support request.
10. Eligibility and future services
PortfolioLens is intended for adults aged 18 or older. Contact us if a child has provided personal information so we can investigate. The current service does not connect bank accounts, hold funds or execute trades. Any future bank or trading integration will require a separate description of the data, purposes, recipients and controls, and additional authorization where required; this notice does not authorize those connections.
11. Changes
We publish revisions with an effective date and provide additional notice for material changes where required. A new purpose requiring consent will not be enabled merely by changing this page.
